I wanted to explore the United States Marine Corps from a new perspective by looking at it through their support systems. Support systems are business establishments that provide services that Marines need to maintain their status/or what signifies them as a Marine—like the haircut or ‘perfectly’ tailored clothing.
By examining the barbershop and tattoo shop, I want to reveal aspects of Marine life that are normally not shown. The environments reinforce the utilitarian image of this organization, while hinting at the human side of the military.
